I went to Lily’s Stomach Supply for lunch with a friend today. Lily’s is definately one of my favourite restaurants in Basel (they also have a branch in Zürich).Sitting just beside Claraplatz in Kleinbasel it is really easy to find. If you like Pan-Asian food, a relaxed atmosphere and great service then Lily’s is definitely the place for you.

If I’m having lunch there I try and ensure that I arrive before noon otherwise there is little chance of getting a table immediately and you’ll almost definitely need to wait. The restaurant is always packed at both lunchtime and in the evening.

The seating system is relaxed and reminiscent of a noodle bar (plain wooden long tables with benches on either side) and the decor is modern and minimalist. The kitchen is open plan which allows you to watch as your lunch is cooked.

We both ordered the ‘Pad Thai Gai’ – stir fried glass noodles, with chicken, peanuts, tofu, beansprouts, egg and tamarin (18.50SFr) and a couple of soft drinks. It was heavenly, it arrived promptly and the portions were as generous as ever.

The bill came to 45SFr in total which is pretty resonable by Basel standards. I would have absolutely no reservations in heartily recommending Lily’s as a great place to eat, grab a coffee, tea or freshly squeezed fruit juice!

I have been eating there on average once or twice a week since it opened a couple of years ago and have never encountered a bad meal there.

I definately would rate it 10/10.
