Boiled Turkey In A Spicy Sauce

I was reading Appon’s Thai Food recipes today and Appon presented a fabulous dish of Boiled Chicken In A Spicy Sauce (Guy Op Sea Eaiw). I thought Appon’s recipe was fantastic and decided I would cook this for dinner tonight. I’m afraid I had to adapt it slightly only because I didn’t have all of the ingredients in the fridge. I also toned down the number of chillies, I love chillies but 3 was my maximum.

Enjoy!

Getting to Know You

Sarah over at The Delicious Life came up with this kind of reverse meme to get to know her readers and I thought it sounded like fun.  Anyone who wants to take part please answer in the comments section.

  1. What do you do as your occupation?
  2. Drink: what and where?
  3. What was the last thing you ate?
  4. Which other blogs do you read?
  5. How did you first find your way here?
  6. Do you take baths or showers?
  7. It’s Friday night. The lights are low. You’re lookin’ out for a place to go…where to, rockstar?
  8. French Fries or onion rings?
  9. Tony Bourdain: hot or not?
  10. Favorite ice cream flavor?

Grilled Turkey Salad

I’m getting really excited as my next set of visitors arrive on Monday, my aunt, cousin and the two girls have never been over to Switzerland before!! I have a few last minute preparations to take care of but I’m pretty much organized.

I thought I would have a nice healthy salad for lunch since the weather is still very warm.

Chicken Tikka

My favourite spice blend of the moment is tandoori masala and with that in mind I decided tonight that I would use it to make some tikka with a salad for dinner.

Weekend away

Schluchsee view from hotel balcony
This is the view over Schluchsee from our hotel room balcony.

We arrived in Schluchsee on Thursday mid-afternoon, unpacked and then went for a walk around the town. We browsed through a couple of the shops, had a coffee then returned to the hotel for an early dinner.

Trip to the Schwarzwald

My Uncle arrives from Scotland tomorrow and we’re off to the Black Forest for a few days so things will be on the quiet side here.

Promise I’ll take lots of snaps and will post some here on my return.

I was planning on cooking tonight but since I got in from work I have been running around crazy making beds, washing floors and generally preparing for my uncle’s arrival so now I’m feeling absolutely knackered and it’s really humid so the notion to cook has completely left me.

Wild Boar Koftas

Sticking with the Middle Eastern influence I decided to turn the wild boar steaks into koftas. I thought I’d serve them with some Couscous and some natural yogurt flavoured with fresh corriander and chives.

What To Do With Wild Boar??

I woke up just after 5am with a really bad head today, took some painkilllers but they had no effect. Thankfully now it’s easing off so my thoughts have been turning towards dinner this evening.

Those of you who read my posting Confessions in Groups of Five will know that I have some problem meat in my freezer and I’m not sure what to do with it.  I’m speaking of course about Wild Boar steaks.  I think I have an idea for a recipe which may or may not work, you’ll have to check back later to see if it’s a disaster or not..

Full Of Eastern Promise

Middle Eastern cookery is another type of cookery I haven’t really explored to any extent, what I have tried I have enjoyed. I bought some pitta breads when shopping the other day, I thought these would be really nice toasted and filled with salad.

There was some turkey in the fridge so off I go again on my quest to explore the flavour combinations of the Middle East.

It’s another gorgeous summers day, temperature is aready rising and I wanted a hearty breakfast to see me through until dinner time. There were quite a few bits and pieces in the fridge which needed to be used so I thought an omelette was definately the way to go. Here is what I came up with…
