The venue, the Atholl Palace Hotel, Pitlochry
Last weekend as you know we were back in the UK for Kate and Sacha’s wedding. A wonderful time was had by all and it was truely one of the most enjoyable weddings I have ever been to. All of the guests got on really well and the setting was breathtaking.
Kate looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress!!

All the guys wore kilts, they all looked so handsome!

Scot AnSgeulaiche was the master of ceremonies and storyteller, he guided us through some old Scottish traditions (some I’d never encountered before) such as jumping the Besom and the Cuach Ceremony (each guest gives a blessing to the couple and drinks Uisge Beatha (Scotch Whisky) the ‘water of life’ from a hand crafted Cuach.

The Besom is a broom made out of birch, the groom jumps over it followed by the bride and if the besom is touched or knocked in any way then the marriage is not recognized.
Thankfully both Sacha and Kate got over the Besom intact!
The wedding meal was held in the Bow Suite which had been decorated beautifully as you can see.

After the meal Scott entertained us with some more storytelling and they also showed us how the traditional plaid was worn by Scottish women.

Finally we were entertained by The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, they were absolutely incredible. I’ve never been a great fan of pipe music but they were really something special and we even bought their CD!
Kate and Sacha had a wonderful day and as you can see the both looked absolutely amazing!

Oh, how beautiful! I love wedding celebrations. And I love a man in a kilt.
Glad to read that you had a wonderful time. The wedding couple looks very nice. Congratulations to them.
Best,
Paz
Umm… I’ve always wanted to know if anything is worn under those kilts.

A *true* Scot wears nothing under his kilt
Ahhh! I love it!
Paz *smiling widely*
“A *true* Scot wears nothing under his kilt” –
tell that to all those people who rent their kilts for one (especially as it’s doubtful they dry clean those woollen kilts after every usage:)
I love the set-up of the dining hall!
I’m sure that on rental kilt contracts it stipulates that underware must be worn under the kilt for that very reason.
It doesn’t bare thinking about (pardon the pun)…
Aaahhhhhh…. so that’s the mystery revealed! What if it’s windy?!!! Oh my gosh…
Love the photos.
You close your eyes and dive for cover, LOL!!
How interesting that they make you contract to wear underware beneath the kilt. I guess I don’t blame them.
Close my eyes when the wind blows? Not me!
heh heh heh!
Paz (the naughty)
Having worked the kilt hire industry in Scotand for several years now I can assure you that the majority of kilt hire stores dry clean all kilts on return.
As for a “contract” stipulating that underwear must be worn – that is nonsense – certainly in Scotland.
There has over the years been one or two places who have tried but some wearers would either ignore this or the store would see its business decline.
