The BBC recently conducted a viewers poll in which they asked participants to name ‘50 things to eat before you die’ in the spirit of this event Melissa of The Travellers Lunchbox decided to turn this into a great blogging event, it’s been gathering speed since last week.
In order to limit things Melissa has asked that readers limit themselves to 5 things/dishes.
It’s really difficult for me to choose only 5 so I have deliberated long and hard but finally I have my final set..
- Swiss Raclette cheese hot and gooey and served over boiled new potatoes with pickled onions and gerkins.
- Mussels, especially good cooked with chilli and garlic from anywhere in Thailand.
- Steak Pie (not to be confused with steak and kidney pudding).
- Grilled Lorne Sausage (Scottish square sausage) & Champ Potatoes (potatoes mashed with cream/milk and then spring onions/scallions are added).
- Any meal at Blinde Kuh (Blind Cow) – the restaurant is completely in darkness and you are therefore guided by your other senses, it really is a MUST.

ooooooohh! i love steak pie!!! there’s a bakery here that does the BEST steak pie
They’re best bought at 10am when it’s fresh. Go any time after and they’re not as good
I agree with the mussels and i’m yet to try Lorne Sausage.

ummm, love the raclette idea – a staple on skiing trips to the french alps.
would love to try the eating in darkness thing too sometime, I read about that on the Grab Your Fork list too.
