I called this curry Chefs Special Curry since a Chefs Special is a common name for a dish concocted to use up leftovers. I had been itching to try out the Barbecue masala I wrote about yesterday so I thought a curry would be the perfect answer.

Barbecue Masala
Last week I was in Manor (one of our local department stores which has a really nice food section) and I saw a new style spice rack sporting all sorts of goodies, one of which was named barbecue masala and it claimed to be pretty spicy. The ingredients of this barbecue masala consisted of chillies, mustard seeds, fenugreek, cumin, black pepper, mango powder, asafoetida, sesame seeds and salt. I couldn’t resist giving it a try so I bought it and it has lain dormant in my kitchen cupboard ever since.
Check back tomorrow to see what I concocted using this barbecue masala.
Now That’s What I Call A Sandwich- My Ultimate Steak Sandwich
I love the bread in France and the bakery in the local supermarket in St.Louis bakes the most wonderful baguettes which they call flutes, they make the most amazing sandwiches!
I haven’t eaten red meat in a couple of weeks and when I saw the entrecotes in the butchers I knew immediately what I wanted for dinner tonight, the Ultimate Steak Sandwich. So here it is..
Two Bean Vegetarian Chilli
It’s Friday at last!!! What a long week it’s been, I think the sudden change from high summer and 30°C to Autumn and 15°C has made it seem even longer. My body has spun straight into hibernation mode and all I want to do is eat comfort food and sleep.
Still determined to eat less meat in order to feel better and to help me loose weight I decided to make a nice pot of chilli for dinner tonight and instead of meat I thought I would make it a vegetarian chilli. No meat doesn’t necessarily mean no flavour.

Food Destinations – Back by Demand!
In case you missed the news, Maki over at I was Just Really Very Hungry has decided due to popular demand to bring back Food Destinations, this time it will be a recurring event!!
The idea behind Food Destinations is that we should ask ourselves the question : If my favorite foodie/food blogger came to my town, where would I take him/her?
The theme for Food Destinations#2 is My Local Greenmarket..
So all you dedicated bloggers out there strap on your cameras, head out to your local markets and get snapping. As Maki says : ‘the more photos the better!’.
Spread the word, tell all your friends!!
Click this button for the event to be added to your google calendar.
The deadline is September 2, 2006 and Maki is even providing a prize for this round.
Dahi-Wali Chicken & Vegetable Curry (Chicken & Vegetables in a Yogurt Gravy)
UPDATE AUGUST 14 : This dish was submitted for Tony’s 29th Curry Mela over at Anthony’s Kitchen.
Vegetarian week is over now but I’m thinking that I’ll probably cut back on the amount of meat I eat during the week and try and eat more seafood and prawns but putting that to one side for the moment I thought I would enjoy some chicken tonight.
I was reading through Meena’s site Hooked on Heat today and came across another of her wonderful curry recipes and thought I would have it tonight with certain adaptations.
Breakfast Tortilla – Vegetarian Week Day 7
Well I’ve made it, my final day of vegetarian week and I must admit I’ve really enjoyed it!! I may make this a regular occurance.
I was in the mood for eggs for breakfast, there was some veg leftover in the fridge which needed used up or would have to go so I thought I would combine them to make a tortilla for breakfast.
EBBP #5 – My Parcel Has Arrived!!!
UPDATE 15th AUGUST : Xochitl has received my parcel safely, go to her site Xochitl Cooks to see what she thought.

Last night when I got in from work there was a slip from the post office saying there was a parcel waiting for me. That meant one thing to me, my EBBP parcel had arrived!! I was so excited!!
Things didn’t go very smoothly when Stewart tried to get the parcel this morning, the post office couldn’t find it and that we should come back on Monday. About an hour later the telephone rang, it was the post office saying that they had located my package and that we could pick it up. Phew….
My package was from Jeanne over at Cook Sister! and it had the most wonderful treats inside!!

Arthur Lee RIP
Normally I wouldn’t write about a musician dying but Arthur Lee was one of the music worlds most gifted individuals, yet if you ask most people if they have ever heard of Arthur Lee or his band Love most people will answer with a quizzical look and a resounding “No, who is he?”.
To find out more about Arthur Lee and his band Love click here.
I was first introduced to Arthur Lee’s music by a friend of mine when I was at university. I had never heard anything quite like it, and was instantly hooked! His music had a big influence on me then and now.
Back in 2003 when the Forever Changes tour was in full swing Natalie and Gareth managed to get some tickets for a “secret gig” and so I flew back to Glasgow to see Arthur Lee and Love perform under the “Andmoreagains” on Saturday 1st February 2003 at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut. King Tut’s Wah Wah hut is a tiny venue with a maximum capacity of around 300 and so to this day it is the best gig I have ever attended.
Around this time Love made a resurgence in popular culture and played may more concerts (including Glastonbury) over the next few years.
Rest in Peace Arthur your music will love on.
