P.S. I love lamb. I think it's the way it's cooked. I remember growing up as a child and even today, many people I know didn't like spinach but I always liked it, but it's because of the way my mom used to prepare it in a very savory way that I never tasted anywhere else. ;-)

Good on you! I don't know if I could give up eating meat for a week. Especially all those lovely italian sausages! But I think I am gonna watch you for a while and see how it goes. maybe give it a shot myself.

Hey Pam, Thanks for the comment on my blog. I just read your post on Vegetarian Week and it made me smile. Thats because according to the Hindu calender it is the Auspicious month of Shravan right now in which I do not eat meat of any kind for the entire month. Some people will even abstain from eating eggs. Its a kind of self control exercise for me more than anything religious. And actully its quite easy because i am not a hardcore non-vegetarian

Gerda - My husband is exactly like you, he eats beef once in a while but HATES lamb, doesn't like most fish (will eat salmon), doesn't like pork so survives on chicken and turkey and the odd ham sandwich.

I on the other hand LOVE meat of most descriptions.

As you can see from most of my recipes I mostly cook with turkey or chicken but I do really like pulses and grains (much to Stewarts displeasure).

Since I'm trying to loose weight I thought cutting out the meat this week would help and also encourage me to try and eat more fish.

We'll see....

i have to check if i might be a vegetarian in the closet! now that i am thinking of it ... i don't eat meat very often at all and i am very picky when it comes to what kind of meat i choose.

i have never liked the taste of lamb for example. when my mother would cook it (about once a year, maximum) i would always refuse to eat - even the smell makes me sick! yak!

i also don't really like beef. only if i have enough vegetables or side dishes i can force myself to eat a few bites. beef is actually not that bad if it's perfectly seasoned.

and since we mostly had pork when i was growing up i now am sick of this kind of meat too ...

oh my gosh, i am a totally spoilt meat eater!

if i cook meat myself - about once in two weeks - it's always fillets of either turkey or chicken. or i eat fish (i don't understand so called "vegetarians" who still eat fish ... do they grow on trees or what?!?) ...

if i scan my qick bites for traces of animal flesh it would be a totally different story of course. i can not resist the odd "schinkenstangerl"(puff pastry with little pieces of ham) every once in a while or really delicious bacon on some sunday mornings ...

yeah. i am a carnivore after all ...
