Baby Update - Week 21

Just thought I would write a brief post to update those of you who have mailed me asking about the baby. All is going well with my pregnancy, my baby bump is now rather large and I’m ever increasingly convinced that this little baby inside my belly will grow up to be an olympic kickboxing champion!

I didn’t think I would be able to feel “proper” kicks yet but since the end of last week the kicks are getting stronger and stronger. Now once or twice every day there is a really big kick which is easily detectable if you have your hand pressed onto my lower belly. So far when Stewart has tried to feel these kicks everything goes quiet but as soon as he walks off the baby starts moving around like mad..

Thursday seemed to be a VERY active day but I think the baby could sense that I was rather stressed. After work I went to IKEA with Kate and so didn’t get home till almost 8pm, I was absolutely knackered and my feet were aching. I got home and instantly got into my PJ’s and sat down to relax. Within 15 minutes of me being home Tasha (my beautiful rather overweight white kitty) started vomiting. This was no hairball as it lasted for 1 1/2 hours.

We didn’t want to take any chances so off we went to the emergency vet at 10pm on Thursday night. The vet x-rayed her and found that her intestines were completely full and suggested that she stay overnight and he would give her an enema in the morning under anaesthetic. I must admit to being quite worried since she is 10 years old I wasn’t sure how she would react to it.

Sisko (our small black and white kitty) was a little freaked out when we returned with no Tasha in tow!

The good news is that we got Tasha home on Friday night, still a little stoned due to the anaesthetic but happy. She didn’t eat anything until Saturday afternoon but seems very happy and back to normal. We’re keeping a close eye on her and I’m a little worried that she still hasn’t used the litter try yet but we’ll call the vet back today and ask his advice.

I’m feeling pretty great these days, I’m still in bed by around 10.30pm but I’m really, really enjoying being pregnant. Everyday is such an adventure, you just never know what new feeling you will experience next or what surprises baby has in store. I can say without hesitation that I fully recommend pregnancy!

I’m off to the docs tomorrow just to make sure everything is fine before we fly off to sunny Glasgow for Christmas. Maybe we’ll find out if it’s a boy or a girl, at my last scan the baby was being shy! If I do get a scan tomorrow and the image looks clear I’ll maybe post it.

I have organized a special treat for myself tomorrow evening, an Ayurvedic massage. I had one a couple of weeks ago and it was heavenly. The masseuse comes to your home and is a specialist in pre and post natal massages. It will definitely be the highlight of the week and should get me suitably relaxed for my journey to the UK.

Really looking forward to seeing all of our family and friends back in Scotland, goodness only knows the next time we’ll be back in the UK. I’m also really looking forward to seeing Natalie on her birthday (my best friend has her birthday on Christmas day).
