Wakey Wakey Breakfast Smoothie

One of my favorite things about the weekend is breakfast and this morning’s breakfast was not a disappointment. I decided to be very good and give making smoothies a try, what a success! I grant you, smoothie making is hardly rocket science but a wonderful way of getting as much yummy fruity goodness into one serving.

We’re all ill here at the moment so a shot of vitamins is exactly what was needed.

WAKEY WAKEY BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE (makes about 1.5 Litres)

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Large bananas
  • 2 Medium Oranges
  • 2 Cups frozen mixed red fruits
  • 2 Cups natural yogurt

PREPARATION

  1. Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Serve!

Gin & Tonic With A Twist

Commiserations to England who are out of the World Cup after loosing to Portugal in another nail biting penalty shoot out they were unlucky.
Here is what I was sipping during the match.

Lots of crushed ice and a twist of lime makes this truly a refreshing drink.

I used Bombay Sapphire rather than Gordon’s Gin here as it has a smoother flavour and I prefer lime slices to lemon.

Raspberry Champagne Cocktail

It’s a bank holiday tomorrow so we’re off work, hurrah!! Decided to try out a rather special little cocktail.

Here is Joe Wadsack’s recipe, it’s similar to a Kir Royale.

Rasberry Champagne Cocktail

RASPBERRY CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL

INGREDIENTS

3 Fresh raspberries (I used frozen)

50 ml Stolichnaya vodka (I used Smirnoff Black label)

Raspberry liqueur (I used Creme de Framboise)

Ice

Moet champagne to fill (I used Crément d’Alsace since it is local).

PREPARATION

Place two of the raspberries in the cocktail shaker with the vodka, ice and raspberry liqueur.

Cover and shake until well blended.

Strain into a champagne flute, top with the champagne and the remaining raspberry.

Serve immediately.

It was nice but I ended up only drinking half a glass since it was pretty sweet!

Puzzeltini

Smirnoff Norsk

Decided to make some cocktails with some of the finds we brought back from the UK. We brought back a bottle of Smirnoff Norsk which we hadn’t seen before.

Smirnoff Norsk is vodka flavoured with Nordic berries.

Got this cocktail recipe from cooker.com

Puzzeltini

40ml Smirnoff Norsk

20ml Creme de Frambois

250ml Cranberry juice

Crushed ice and frozen rasberries to garnish.

Mmmm, berry explosion!!
