Spicy Creamy Chicken Curry

I haven’t really felt like cooking over the past couple of weeks but today finally I was in the mood to cook. I haven’t had a curry in a couple of weeks and so I decided I fancied a curry for dinner tonight and so I came up with this.

Lamb Rogan Josh

UPDATE 28th AUGUST : This dish was included in the 30th Curry Mela round-up by Tony at Anthony’s Kitchen. Thanks again Tony for another excellent round-up!

I have been yearning for a really tasty lamb curry for over a week now and after searching the interweb I came across this site named Route 79. Jag shares with us  some thoughts about living and commuting in London not to mention the most wonderful collections of Indian recipes. Here is my slight adaptation of one of them.

Potato & Mushroom Masala

I told you all I was addicted to curry at the moment and I enjoyed my Aloo Masala a couple of weeks ago so much that I decided to have another bash.  This time the slight difference was that I added some mushrooms and an extra onion. It was absolutely divine!!!

See here for the original recipe.

Here is the end product, mmmmmm even looking at the photo makes my mouth water….

Creamy Turkey & Tofu Curry

At the beginning of August I decided to have a week dedicated to abstaining from meat and with this in mind I bought some tofu. I enjoy tofu but I have never cooked with it until now that is!

So anyway during my veggie week I bought some organic tofu and put it in the fridge and there it sat. Every time I opened the fridge there it sat, looming, haunting… TOFU .. COOK ME… EAT ME… I was scared..

Well I knew the day would finally come, the expiry date on the tofu is tomorrow and I was faced with the reality that I would either need to cook the tofu or chuck it in the bin…

OK..OK..I GIVE UP.. I will cook the tofu!!

I had a look to see what other ingredients in the fridge required liberation before ending up in the bin and so I came up with this recipe. Have a look and see what you think.

Turns out I shouldn’t have been scared the tofu was delicious and easy to cook.

Chefs Special Curry – Beef and Potato

I called this curry Chefs Special Curry since a Chefs Special is a common name for a dish concocted to use up leftovers. I had been itching to try out the Barbecue masala I wrote about yesterday so I thought a curry would be the perfect answer.

Dahi-Wali Chicken & Vegetable Curry (Chicken & Vegetables in a Yogurt Gravy)

UPDATE AUGUST 14 : This dish was submitted for Tony’s 29th Curry Mela over at Anthony’s Kitchen.

Vegetarian week is over now but I’m thinking that I’ll probably cut back on the amount of meat I eat during the week and try and eat more seafood and prawns but putting that to one side for the moment I thought I would enjoy some chicken tonight.

I was reading through Meena’s site Hooked on Heat today and came across another of her wonderful curry recipes and thought I would have it tonight with certain adaptations.

Aloo Masala / Potato Curry – Day 4

UPDATE AUGUST 14 : This dish was submitted for Tony’s 29th Curry Mela over at Anthony’s Kitchen.

So it’s day 4 of vegetarian week, so far I haven’t found this week difficult. I’m feeling pretty good and I’m still loosing weight.

I enjoyed my curry so much that I thought I would have a variation on it tonight only this time with new potatoes and a couple of other slight changes.

Rajma Masala / Kidney Bean Curry

On my quest to keep this week meat free I have been looking to add flavour through the inclusion of herbs and spices.

Whist reading one of my favourite blogs – Kitchen Wonders by Sumitha Shibu who is also based here in Switzerland I came across a really delicious sounding recipe for Kidney Bean Masala.

I have adapted Sumitha’s recipe slightly to suit my own taste.

Chicken Tikka

My favourite spice blend of the moment is tandoori masala and with that in mind I decided tonight that I would use it to make some tikka with a salad for dinner.
